    Florence Griswold Museum

    Located on an 11-acre site, the Florence Griswold Museum is known as the Home of American Impressionism. In addition to the restored Florence Griswold House, where the artists of the Lyme Art Colony lived, the Museum features an exhibition gallery, education center, extensive gardens, and a restored artist's studio.

    This summer, don't miss the special exhibition, Impressionist Giverny: American Painters in France, 1885-1915 on view through July 27.

  • Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts

    Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts

    In 1976 the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts was founded by sculptor Elisabeth Gordon Chandler to insure that artists continue to be taught traditional techniques and skills based on fundamentals of representational drawing, sculpture and painting.

    Today, as a BFA-granting institution, Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts has become a preeminent destination for emerging artists, and is devoted to teaching representational fine arts. Four hundred students attend the College, with BFA, Continuing Studies and Pre-College courses available. Art exhibitions are held throughout the year in two galleries, which are free and open to the public Monday – Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

    Lyme Art Association

    Opened in 1921 as a permanent exhibition home for the Lyme Art Colony artists, the Lyme Art Association, which is free to the public and open Tuesdays through Sunday, continues to be a vibrant art center. Professional as well as developing artists mount major exhibitions throughout the year and form the heart of the Lyme Art Association which now boasts over 1,000 members.

    The Lymes' Youth Service Bureau, a private, non-profit agency, is dedicated to promoting the positive development of children and families in the towns of Lyme and Old Lyme. Our purpose, as established in 1978, was then and is still to: identify and satisfy unmet youth needs, provide professional guidance designed to promote harmonious family and interpersonal relationships and healthy development, arrange for and provide counseling, educate, encourage and aid the community to recognize its responsibility and role in the alleviation and solution of social problems involving youth, and provide activities and services to youth to aid in their personal growth.

  • Old Lyme Library

    Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library

    Established as a free public library in 1897, the building construction was funded by the generous gift of Charles H. Ludington in honor of his mother-in-law. Originally organized and operated by the Ladies Library Association, their funds were merged with the Phoebe Griffin Noyes Trust to create the present library association. Subsequent additions were added to the building to meet the developing needs of a growing community.

    The library offers popular reading collections and media, wireless Internet access, a Learning & Homework Center for children, monthly educational and cultural programs for all ages and a community meeting room for local clubs and organizations.

  • Town of Old Lyme
