Breck Studies

Florence Griswold Museum

  • 5-7 pm: Free Viewing of Impressionist Giverny

    Works by American artists working in the village made famous by Claude Monet.

  • 7-9 pm: Free Concert by The Shiny Lapel Trio

    The Shiny Lapel Trio

    Get ready for a swingin' evening on the river! The Shiny Lapel Trio croons and grooves to the timeless classics from the 30s-50s, combining three rockin' instruments and big ol' slice of velvety vocals. Pack a picnic or pick up a tasty dinner from River Tavern and Feast Market served from their vintage "chuckwagon" and enjoy a perfect summer evening on the river. Sponsored by Reynolds' Garage and Marine, Lyme.

    Enjoy an open house with music, refreshments, and three great exhibitions: Summer Painting & Sculpture Exhibition, The 77th Annual Exhibition of Hudson Valley Art Association, and the Anything Goes Art Sale.

  • Ladybug Crowns

    10am - 3pm: Hands-On, Minds-On Education Center

    Creative activities for everyone presented by the Museum and other local organizations including Children's Museum of SECT, Committee for Clean Energy Fund, Connecticut River Museum, Connecticut Historical Society, Connecticut Landmarks Society, Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Henry Whitfield State Museum, Lyme Youth Service Bureau, Lyman Allyn Museum, Noah Webster House/West Hartford Historical Society, Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library, and Slater Museum.

  • 11am-1pm: Book Signing by Dorie Greenspan

  • Japanese Drumming

    12pm: Taikoza Japanese Drumming

    Enjoy the dramatic drums of Taikoza, a New York-based drumming and dance ensemble. Drawing from Japan's rich musical traditions, the performance also features string instruments, metal percussion, and bamboo flutes.

    New this year! Bring your own dog show! Come to our dog show and enter your dog in one of many categories to win. Treats will be given to every contestant.

  • 10am - 2pm: Chainsaw Art Demonstration by Lou Fuchs

    For the fourth year and back by popular request, College alumnus Lou Fuchs will demonstrate the carving of sculptures out of tree logs with a chainsaw. Bring the kids and watch the sculpture unfold. All questions welcome.

    10:30am - 12pm: Gallery Talk and Print Demonstration by James Reed

    Faculty member James Reed will provide a gallery talk and print demonstration in the Chauncey Stillman Gallery. What is printmaking? How does it fit into the world of art and the curriculum at the Lyme Academy College? Discussion will include some historical aspects and a small technical demonstration.

  • 11am - 3pm: Eateries at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts

    The Old Lyme Fire Department and the College Café will serve a variety of tasty foods and drinks.

  • 12pm - 1pm: Zach Lockwood & The Roseliners

    Don't miss Old Lyme's own Zach Lockwood and his new Boston-based rock & roll band. CDs will be available for sale. Sponsored by Lymes' Youth Services Bureau.
